5 tips for Mindfulness meditation

"Mindfulness meditation is important because it can help reduce stress, improve concentration and focus, increase self-awareness, and promote overall mental and physical wellbeing", says Gaurav Mandal , National awarded design educator .

Here are five tips for mindfulness meditation:

  1. Find a quiet and comfortable space: Choose a quiet and comfortable place to meditate where you won't be interrupted. You can sit on a cushion or chair, or even lie down if that is more comfortable for you.Oprah Winfrey has credited mindfulness meditation with helping her manage stress and stay focused. She practices

Transcendental Meditation, which involves repeating a mantra to help quiet the mind

  1. Focus on your breath: Start by focusing on your breath. Breathe naturally and notice the sensation of the breath as it enters and leaves your body. You can count your breaths if it helps you to stay focused. The late Kobe Bryant practiced mindfulness meditation to help him stay present and focused during games. He used a technique called body scanning, where he would focus on each part of his body and release tension.


  1. Don't judge your thoughts: When thoughts arise, don't judge them or try to push them away. Instead, simply observe them and let them go. Bring your attention back to your breath.Emma Watson has spoken about her meditation practice and how it helps her manage anxiety. She practices Vipassana meditation, which involves observing the breath and bodily sensations.


  1. Be patient: Don't worry if your mind wanders during meditation. It's normal for thoughts to arise, and it takes time and practice to cultivate mindfulness. Be patient with yourself and keep practicing. Jerry Seinfeld practices transcendental meditation, which he has called "a great tool for stress". He meditates twice a day for 20 minutes.


  1. Practice regularly: The more you practice mindfulness meditation, the easier it becomes to stay present and focused. Try to make it a daily habit, even if it's just for a few minutes each day. Gisele Bundchen, supermodel has credited mindfulness meditation with helping her stay centered and focused. She practices a type of meditation called Heartfulness, which involves focusing on the heart center.
